Our Story

Lake Mac Honey began in my backyard here in Lake Macquarie with a simple goal — to bring bees back to the area. I hadn’t seen many around and wanted to help restore their numbers. Along the way, I discovered the joy of producing pure, local honey and honeycomb straight from the hive. What started as a small backyard project has grown into a way to share real, unprocessed honey with my community — raw, fresh, and full of local flavour.

Our hives are nestled in my backyard in Warners Bay. The bees forage on the local blossoms around the lake — like gum trees, bottlebrush, grevillea, and the native seasonal flowers that thrive in the area. Because the bees collect nectar from whatever is blooming at the time, every batch of honey has its own unique taste.

Because the hives are right in the backyard, we’re able to look after the bees closely and make sure they stay healthy. We only harvest when the frames are capped and the honey is fully ready — keeping it naturally rich in flavour and nutrients.

With the Flow Hive system, the honey flows straight from the comb into the jar without needing to be heated, filtered, or processed. Nothing is added, and nothing is taken away — it’s exactly as the bees made it.
